Description
Lambspun’s Eri Silk yarn is our go-to sport-weight pure silk with approximately 446 yards per skein.
Among silks, Eri stands out as a more ethically and sustainably-sourced option. Unlike other silk varieties where the silkworm is killed to obtain the silk filament, Eri Silk is obtained after the moth has emerged from the cocoon, thus allowing the silkworm to complete its lifecycle.
Unlike most silks, which are continuous filament, Eri Silk is a staple fiber, giving it a distinctive texture. Eri is darker, heavier, and known for durability and elasticity when compared to other silks. These qualities make Eri Silk an excellent choice to weave with as a warp fiber.
Each skein’s variegation is unique; you can even request more or less variegation to suit your vision.
Hand-dyed excellence: Our hand-painting techniques ensure spectacular hues, but dye lot variations are natural. Be sure to purchase enough yarn for your entire project, as we cannot guarantee the availability of additional skeins of the same dye lot.
Colors: We carefully select colors inspired by the tropical bounty of Hawai’i.
Transform your creative ideas into reality with this extraordinary yarn. Want to refine your skills? Register for a knitting, crochet, or weaving class to bring even more life to this vibrant and elegant fiber.
